Close This Window   angelique Hawaii Thanks! When I was there I spent most of my time on the Big Island - Hilo and Kona. There is a hostel in Hilo that hosts some pretty good tours and is a good place in general. Arnott's hostel. Their tours are cheaper than others in the area. One brings you to Volcanoes Nat'l Park where you can hike with an experienced guide for 1-5 miles to see lava flow. They also have one to see Mauna Kea and a coastal tour which is really beautiful. Fyi Hilo is the rainiest city in the U.S. and is not your typical Hawaiian vision of sun and white beaches. The beaches are old black lava and rocky but beautiful nonetheless. It's a neat town too. Kona is nice but really touristy. Good luck and have fun! Reply
