That was after the communist came to power. (The British granted independence to Burma in 1947 and Ne Win a radical communist isolated the country and declared the military government in 1962.) Having only one week to see the country I had to do a quick trip. In fact I really enjoyed the country and unspoiled scenery but was not happy with strict rules used by the government to control the flow of tourists and money in black markets. On the way back to Yangoon at the railway station I met an old Christian woman who persuaded me to visit her place and meet her niece. She said to me that My niece is beautiful. You can marry her but you must take her to live in Thailand for good. Today I still feel sorry that I did not accept that. HAHA!I know that you visited Thailand Malaysia and Indonesia in 1999.
