| It can be. When I went on the hike I think we hiked a good five miles to and five miles back including a bit of climbing. It depends on where the lava is as it moves daily. | Thanks! When I was there I spent most of my time on the Big Island - Hilo and Kona. There is a hostel in Hilo that hosts some pretty good tours and is a good place in general. Arnott's hostel.
