Well it’s been awhile since I’ve written a travelogue! Unfortunately it isn’t because I’ve been so busy traveling the world! There has been a lot going on here though. Last week I started my new job with Mapleton Public Schools. I absolutely love it and think I’m going to have a wonderful year. And now with the help of my new glasses, I totally look like a teacher as well! I have 11th and 12th graders and am teaching math. Yes, you read that right – Rachel is teaching math! Yikes! Needless to say I have been very busy writing unit plans for my math classes.
Life in Denver is going well. Laura and Ed just welcomed the arrival of a baby girl on Thursday – Claire Allison. She is healthy and beautiful and coming home today (we hope!). I will be moving soon too – have to make room for all of the visiting relatives! Actually, after a year and a bit of living in Ed and Laura’s basement as their very own live-in moocher, it’s probably time I got my own place. And now that I have started my new job (wooooohooooo!) I actually have money. Yes, everyone, a real paycheck! Im planning on getting a two-bedroom so please come and visit!!!
My first year at Regis is almost officially over. I still have a 4.0, but after my summer slacking, I’m not sure if I will get to keep it. Taking 9 credits in the summer is NOT a good idea! I am more than halfway finished with my masters program and hope to graduate in December of 06 – maybe earlier if I can swing it!
I can’t believe it is almost fall already. Where did the summer go? It seems like I spent most of my summer in the basement writing papers and staying cool! The summer has been rather HOT here and relatively quiet. I didn’t get to do all of the camping I had planned to do because it was tooooooooo bloody hot! I did take a little trip to New York and Vermont this summer. It was fun to see family and friends and just relax for a month. Pickle enjoyed being free again and ran non-stop for the entire month.
And that is about it in Rachel news. Sorry this is so scattered. I have a million papers to write for school, and I’m running out of time before the end of the semester! Not to mention all the excitement of the new baby!!!
Hope all is well with everyone!
Lots of love, Rachel
