Trip - Cambridge 10 28 05 by mlegal
Cambridge!
Me, Heather, Lauren and Myrna went to Cambridge today on a tour. The day started off rainy but turned out really nice! We were lucky as we've been so far in all our travels.

First we did a drive through the city and went out to the American Cemetary. It has American soldiers graves and a wall with the names of soldiers not found in WWII. There is also a chapel and reflecting pool and it's very nice there.

Then we started the walking portion of our tour, going up a Roman Hill that used to have a Roman castle, and into town, through some colleges and ended before lunch at King's College Church. It is beautiful on the inside. They even have a painting that is huge and painted on wood. Some crazy IRA guy damaged it with a knife in the 1970s before they had a lot of security there.

After a yummy baked potato (or jacket) lunch, we did more walking around, saw more of the academic buildings and residences and ended the day with a fun punting (like a gondola) ride up the River Cam. It was fun and our tour guide Jane was very good.
