Trip - Australia by nikita22
G.O.R., Lesbian music, and horrific noises
Just got back into Melbourne from the Great Ocean Road...made it through 18 torturous (sp?) tracks of Annie Lennox (hence the lesbian reference in my title- driver of my G.O.R. trip was also a lesbian, so...I'm not trying to be un-P.C., but Annie Lennox is horrible. Are you kidding me with that music?!?! Add that to my least fav's next to Led Z and Neil Young (should get some hate email with that one).
I met a girl (from Melbourne, the Annie L. enthusiast) and her cousin (from the UK) in my hostel in Torquay- my first stop off on the Great Ocean Road, along the bottom of Oz- on the way to Adelaide.
I bypassed the tours and figured I could do it on my own.
Being stubborn.
It took me about 6 hours to get what takes 2 hours in a car because I had to take a tram to a train to a bus... all which involved waiting for the scheduled departure of the following method of transport.
Once I got to Torquay, I figured out that there really is the only option of going by car or tour bus if you want to stop at specific destinations, unless you go on Friday- not an option for me, being Saturday, and that I'm leaving the following Friday.
However, I sat in the TV room, making jewelry (my new pastime) and watching surf videos with the backpackers and met Aaron, visiting his cousin from the UK.
They were leaving the following day in their car and offered to take me with them and I was more than happy to pitch in for gas money...
Perfect! (other than Annie L., of course)
We spent last night in Apollo Bay and today finished off the whole bit, putting my butt back in Melbourne today.
Which is perfect because I'm figuring out that I have more planning than I anticipated for SE Asia, seeing as I want to volunteer with vfp and all and want to get back to LA to work on my kids book....
Just went back to edit this trekshare because I put the title, balance shmalance originally, and then didn't write about that bit.
Thanks for the cute and funny emails Ivy, Amelia, and Eli. Wish I could have been there for your Birthday, Ivy.
Love you!
