Our road trip. Me. My wife. Two cats and a Rabbit. As much of her crap as we could stuff in her small ´99 Golf. This is going to be fun.
Our itinerary:
West on I-10 until we reach Phoenix.
North on US60 to US93 to Kingman.
West on I-40 to Barstow.
West on US58 to Bakersfield
North on US99 to Sacramento
North on I-5 to Seattle.
The first day we did not get off until 11:30. This does not bode well for completing the trip in 4 days. Personally, I´ve made this trip a number of times with my mother when I was in High school and college. I´m a big fan of the cross country trip. This one was bad. We were packed in tight, and with my wife wistful about leaving Houston, not an easy time to have fun.
It was a cold night, we got into Fort Stockton at about 8:30. We were hungry. We sought out dinners at a local grocery store. Guess what local Grocer carries two vegetarian options. Both enchiladas. It was good to sleep. At least the cats were ok. They weren´t freaking out too bad.
I was hopeful. Speeds across West Texas are 80 MPH. Fly boy, fly. The next morning would be a miracle of speed.
