Note: 1 Euro = $1.41 US.
Up at 8:45am.
Out to the small bakery/coffee place next to “Everest” fast food place on the next street over. I get a Ham and Cheese Croissant and a big cup of Coffee for (E3.70). I hike up to the big park and hang out and eat a leisurely breakfast.
I walk around the park and check out the summer flowers and read. Finish reading “The Eagles Prey” by Simon Scarrow (468 Pages – 4 stars out of 5). Then back to Zorbas to escape the heat (Gonna be 88 degrees today in Athens!). I crank the air conditioner up and write and internet and start pack for the flight home tomorrow.
I meet my roomies, a Polish couple and a French Girl. Their all friends and speak Spanish to communicate. Pretty European!
I pop out and check my route on the Metro to Syntagma and make sure that I know where the Airport Bus stop is. I see that the Airport Bus runs 24 hours, every 15 minutes or so.
Then I stop at an tiny, corner, outside café and get a Ham&veggie Sub and Coke for lunch (E 4.50) I read, eat and watch the tourists getting off the buses and trying to read their Athens Map. Laugh…………. I guess I was like that back in 2004 when I first came to Athens.
I cruise around the tourist streets and shops and enjoy the sunshiny day. I is not as hot as it was supposed to be and is quite pleasant. I Change some Euros to US Dollars and leave enough for dinner tonight and some food for tomorrows plane flights.
I Metro back up to Zorbas and on the way stop at Victoria (The small coffee shop in the next street that I like) and pick up a Chocolate filled, Huge donut and 2 Ham and Cheese Pastries for tomorrow (E 5.50).
Back to the room, shower, pack, read and internet. At 8pm I go out for dinner. I Metro down to Monistraki and hit my favorite Gyro place. I get a Gyro and Pepsi for (E3.50). I’m gonna miss this place! I hang out at Monistraki Square and eat and watch the crowds swirl by.
Back up to Zorbas, final pack and internet. I try to go to sleep at 11pm, but the roomies and hostel noise keep me up. I can’t put my earplugs in, because I’m afraid that I will miss my watch alarm at 7am and be late to the airport.
Trying unsuccessfully to sleep…
