So I never really got to sleep last night. I think I may have managed a 1/2 hour here or there. But When the roomies came back, the Polish Woman snored like a truck driver and I couldn’t sleep at all.
At 5am, I get up and grab my stuff and get out of the room. I internet for 1/2 hour and then check out of Zorbas. I get the Metro to Syntagma and the Bus to the airport (1 hour). I arrive at Athens Airport at 7am. I can’t check in until 8:30 for my flight, so I catch a few zzzz’s on the uncomfortable airport chairs.
Then my flight is delayed for 3 hours! Crap! I’m stuck in airport hell for another 3 hours. I finally check my big bag and get my seat assignments at 11:30am. I can then go through Security and Immigration and then have another 3 hours to wait for my plane to take off. The plane for New York finally leave at 2:30pm.
Total time in the Athens airport is 8 friggin hours!
The flight takes 10 hours. Boring and I sleep most of the time. I got a headache for about 3 hours along the way, that sucked, but nothing I can do. I walked around the airplane and messaged my head and it finally went away. On the bright side, Olympic Airlines serve Salmon for dinner! Pretty yummy.
I arrived in New York at 5pm local time. My flight to Pittsburgh leaves at 9pm. Hah! Delta Airlines was all screwed up and had about 7 flights all leaving out of the same gate. Mine of course was delayed. We board the plane eventually and when were on the runway, were delayed again…… The plane before us hit a rabbit on the runway and they had to go and clean if off! We managed to finally get airborne at 10:30pm.
I arrive in Pittsburgh at 11:45. My friend Hank is waiting for me at the baggage claim. Thanks Hank! Hank drives me to my place and I finally reach home at 1am Wednesday Morning.
Its good to be home!
