Hot destinations come and go for winter vacations, but
Niseko Japan is
now the hottest place in the world to take a winter vacation you will
remember the rest of your life. Visitors from around the word come to
Niseko for the fresh daily powder, the backcountry skiing, wide open
runs for skiers and snowboarders of all levels, and to experience the
Japanese lifestyle and cuisine. The resort was first made popular by
Australians who came year after year and the rest of the world listened.
Back-countryskiing is accessed from the resort you stay at, guided tours
are available and for those with the funds helicopter back-country is
also available. Try the back-country skiing on the volcanic cone on Yotei
Mountain which can be viewed from Niseko. The area is made up from
three larger resorts that all connect together at the top of the
mountain, while shuttles connect them at the base. You can purchase a
pass to ski all three resorts by the day.
Gondolas and lifts come right down to the village where your
accommodations are all centered, along with restaurants and shops for
you après ski nights. With over 60 runs of groomed trails you will
certainly fill your days on this world famous powder. Take a break from
skiing or boarding and the family can enjoy a snowmobile tour in that
great powder. This is for all ages and levels of experience, very small
children can ride with their parents. The trip takes about 3 hours.
Snowshoeing will let you take in some of Niseko’s beautiful landscape;
you will be picked up and dropped off from your hotel resort. If you
want to get away from the snow for a day, you can try out some of the
local craft making, from soba noodles or jam making to glass blowing and
leather crafting, they are all available for you to try.
With the language barrier broken and distance travel no longer a huge
problem, choosing Niseko as your next winter holiday destination will be
the trip to remember. From the middle of December to the end of
February winter storms dump world class powder on the area. With about
500 inches of very dry light powder every year, you will not be without
snow for your stay. For those that love to back-country ski, there are
few borders, but if you need to be rescued you are charged for it.
Niseko really is the hot destination to visit for you next winter
holiday.
