I broke the heel on my favourite pair of shoes while saying bye to Colin – nightmare. Went for breakfast with Lorraine in Coogee, I spoke to Chester, Joe, Mike and Toady as it was 2.30am English time so needless to say the conversation was quite amusing, they had sent me a rude and abusive text on Thursday, thankfully I didn’t get it but some other poor person must have!! We went back to the flat then I went out and bought a pair of suede boots that I couldn’t stand when I first saw them but really like now – it cheered me up a little but the flat is still a nightmare. Nobody is speaking to De (except her new found friend Malika!!!) and we had to camp out with all the sheets and doonas (duvets!) on the living room floor. The detective from the armed robbery squad rang me at 7am on Monday morning to arrange for me to go in and do confit. Spent the day doing data entry at Weight Watchers - less said the better. I picked up the photos from Woolworths on my way home, as I recall all the embarrassing ones were of Helen, a quick flick through soon indicated what the guy had been smirking about (too late Brad they’re in the bin!!) Thankfully the furniture had arrived by the time I got home!
Went to see the detective at the city armed robbery squad on Tuesday night but because it happened so long ago its largely a paper pushing exercise, the guy typed with one finger and averaged about three and a half words a day so I made him get off the computer and despite it being against policy and procedure, I typed it myself and managed to get home in time for Cold Feet. I had to go back on Wednesday after finishing at Weight Watchers to finalise my statement.
De is slowly bringing her clothes in off the balcony one by one in the hope that we don’t notice she hasn’t washed any of them yet – I really don’t think she understands the whole bed bugs and fumigation concept. Worked at Walter Construction on Thursday, I had another interview at IDP (in the marketing dept but I still don’t like the place) then left early to deliver Alex’s drawings. I took Helen up to meet Chris and Chris at M&T then we went to the Establishment with Sarah and Mel. There’s free champagne (well tolerable sparkling white wine) on Thursday nights so we made the most of it – well it would be rude not to! Helen met some old guys who bought us drinks all night and I met a guy called Scott from Melbourne.
Went to work at Mercer again on Friday, my favourite shoes are unfixable so I just got my black ones cleaned (they’re nearly as good as you do them Dad!!) Spoke to Rebecca on my way home she’s getting nervous about coming out here – it’ll be great when she gets here! Went back for quick shower before going to Made in Italy with Helen and Lorraine to meet Debbie and Linda, we complained that there were hairs in our pasta (apparently off the mushrooms but I’ve never seen a hairy mushroom) so we got our meal free!! Nobody is speaking to De still so things are a little awkward in the flat.
On Saturday Helen took me to the botanical gardens, I haven’t been before, they’re absolutely gorgeous and there’s hundreds of bats hanging out of the trees as well as owls and huge spiders. We sat and sunbathed on the grass at farm cove which looks out over to the Opera House then I met Chris Yorkshire and Mel for a meal in Potts Point (the posh end of Kings Cross!!!) Chris flat is really smart it looks onto Woolloomooloo Wharf (home to Russell Crowe) and the Opera House, he took me back to our nice flat where we got stuck in the lift! |
