"La Torre di Pisa (The Leaning Tower of Pisa) is the bell tower of the cathedral on the right edge of the photo. It took over 200 years to finish the consutruction which started in 1173. It started to ""tilt"" during the construction and that is one reason it took so long to construct. Even if it did not ""lean"" it would still be one of Europe's finest towers. Today the tower continues to slip 1 to 2 millimeters per year but measures are being taken to conserve the tower for many many years."
